Run by SJAM's Science Dept. and students, Science Club welcomes students who have a passion and flare for science.  We discuss current scientific topics, experiment,  and invite world class guest speakers, all while working on science fair projects and  preparing for science competitions! Join us Fridays at lunch in room 3432!

Co-Presidents

Tom Chong is one of Science Club’s two co-presidents. He is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. He has received gold medals in both intermediate and senior divisions at the Waterloo-Wellington Science and Engineering Fair. He was an instructor at Engineering Science Quest. At the 2013 Science Olympics hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University, Tom led his team to gold. He can be reached at tom_chong@hotmail.com.

 

Jameson Rokeby is one of Science Club’s two co-presidents. He is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. He won the Waterloo Brain Bee and later placed in the top five nation-wide. Jameson held a leading role in the Multicultural Club last year. He can be reached at jamorok@hotmail.com.

 

Vice President

Fengyang Wang is vice president of Science Club. He is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. He has received gold medals in both intermediate and senior divisions at the Waterloo-Wellington Science and Engineering Fair. He placed first in the Grade 9 to 11 division of the 2014 Physics@Mac competition. Fengyang is also strong in mathematics and was a member of the 5th-place team at the 2014 Canadian Team Math Competition. He can be reached at fengyang97@hotmail.com.

 

Secretary

Nathan Bauman is the secretary of Science Club. He is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. He was an instructor at Engineering Science Quest. In 2014, Nathan won a regional English writing competition at the University of Waterloo. He volunteered at the Grand River Hospital in the summer of 2014. He received a bronze medal in the Junior division at the Waterloo-Wellington Science and Engineering Fair. He can be reached at nathancbauman@gmail.com.

Treasurer

Austin Sun is treasurer of Science Club. He is a grade 11 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. He placed in the top 3% nationwide in the 2014 Michael Smith Science Challenge. Austin is also strong in mathematics and was a leading member of the 5th-place team at the 2014 Canadian Team Math Competition, in addition to several stunning individual math contest achievements. Web Designers

Sharon Chan is one of Science Club’s two web designers. She is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School. Sharon has exceptional artistic talent and has majorly improved the look and feel of the Science Club website. She can be reached at sharon851226@hotmail.com.

 

Andrea Stobo is one of Science Club’s two web designers. She is a grade 12 student at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School.
